Music Japan had an idol special with seven idol groups performing.  The idol groups that performed were Momoiro Clover, S/mileage, Tokyo Girls’ Style, Morning Musume, Vanilla Beans, Idoling!!, and AKB48.  AKB48’s Ponytail to ShuShu is currently #1 on the charts and probably will be their biggest hit song so far.  The new Hello project group S/mileage seems ok with 4 new cute girls that just formed and maybe have some potential.  Momoiro Clover are kind of fun to watch, but I they’re more for otaku.  The rest are kind of bland and Vanilla Beans is just awful.  There was a short piece on upcoming or new idol groups and they were: 9nine, bump.y, Beckii Cruel and the kpop groups 4Minute, and Kara.  Kara is scheduled to debut in August, 2010.  It might be “game set” when Kara debuts and game over for some of these mediocre groups.
