After School – Shampoo (MV) & Virgin Album

After School has come out with a new album.   Their new single is called Shampoo and has a nice piano melody and seems to target more of a female audience.  It was produced by Daishi Dance who also did Rainbow’s current song To Me.  I’m pretty sure if After School didn’t have a tap dance theme running through their songs they would of probably rocked with a song like To Me.    They instead have a cool tap dance routine called Let’s Step Up, which will satisfy the dance expectations from die hard fans.

Amuro Namie feat. After School – Make It Happen (PV)

Amuro Namie featuring After School in Make It Happen music video.  The song is from Amuro Namie’s Best Collaboration Album Checkmate.  It’s nice to see After School in a video with Amuro Namie, but I think the song is kind of slow and boring.

Orange Caramel Magic Girl is probably for the guys

I guess After School’s sub-unit Orange Caramel looks cutesy and sort of like the Japanese Morning Musume type, but after I watched their performance on Music Bank I changed my mind.  The thing that stuck out to me the most was that they were doing a lot of hand movements which is more like Perfume.  I’m guessing they might become more like Perfume if they start doing technopop by adding some Autotune and picking up the beat.  If they went in that direction it might be better.  I guess even if a group is cutesy, they still might be more popular with fanboys or mostly men.  Of course it’s better to have equal amounts of female and male fans, but if a female idol group has to distinguish itself and choose an audience they really should go after the guys.  I think all those hand movements and coordinated dancing casts a spell or mesmerizes guys for some reason… hehe.
