I agree with Bluelight57 about this drama. It is far better than most American programs that cover this subject, IF you can even find one to watch. We Americans were so hateful at that time, we were not much better than Hitler, treating our neighbor like a criminal, simply because they were not "like us" (blone hair and blue eyes, anyone?)
I recommend this drama to everyone who has no idea what the Japanese Americans had to endure, and what they have overcome in such a dignified manner that makes it imperatively right that we respect them.

I've seen the first four episodes on NHK America. Fair and first-class production that made mincemeat of NHK's miserably poor Taiga Drama on the Japanese-American experience that was so inaccurate that it was not shown on American TV. I recommend this film without hesitation to viewers in Japan and in America. Although there were a few small technical errors in the scenes covering the 442nd in training and overseas and the US Marines on Okinawa, the film overall is not only class A work, it is long overdue! People in Japan who see this film will know that Japanese-Americans are worthy of their respect.
Unfortunately, the reviewer has done no justice to the production or to a people who, in a century, overcame bigotry, adapted to a new and often confusing culture, and became one of the most successful groups in America.

Thanks, I was waiting for someone to share my opinion on this group. I saw them on Japanese TV the other week, being ogled at by a panel of middle-aged men. The middle-aged men and the camera kept interrupting their dance and focusing on their legs. While their core audience might be teenage girls around the same age, it seems they are being promoted heavily to high-spending middle-aged idol-otaku market as well.

Generally Japanese dramas aren't sold legitimately (usually always chinese rip-offs) outside of Japan and when they come out are usually pretty expensive and non-translated. If you are going that route you probably should just find the series and subs online yourself. If the real dvd set comes out in Japan it'll probably be sold at Yesasia.
